I’m assuming the numbering next to the teams is just a mistype and the teams finished in order as liasted. POR 1, IRL 2, ITA 3.. .etc. Hope you’re all well, it’s pretty fun here racing for the cape.

    Atenciosamente,

    T

    Torbo, my old pal,

I find it very interesting that you have the time to check this out with your Volvo duty at the moment.

POR still have some protests pending, which adds to the 16 others they have already had against them at this event.

Tonight will be very interesting. My money is still on the Irish, thoug ITA still potentially good. FRA Atlantic have to avoid results outside the top 4 if they still want to be in with a shout tomorrow.

    Rusty

  6. Torben Grael Says:

    Coutts buddy,

It is dificult to keey the spray off my blackberry but suck is the tecnhology ericsson have given us that allows us to keep up to date on the important issues of the moment. I’ve also got Brad taking care of things up on deck while I check out http://www.sywoc.org. And man I’d have to agree with you with protests pending and obviously evidence of some hot headedness on the POR boat, I’d have to put my money (and my 5 olympic medels) on the Irish.

    Atenciosamente,

    T

  7. Russell Coutts Says:

    Torbo,

I find it difficult to understand how you can simultaneously find it hard to keep the spray off your blackberry, while at the same time, be down below deck. Is your boat leaking?

If so, then for the love of God man, jump off now….

I’m now very much of the opinion that POR will get the flick tonight (especially seen as the Irish and the Italians are working together on the protest) and that it will be a race between them for the title. It may be unfair to say, but I am Russell Coutts, so I can say what I like, but given the fact that POR have been in no less than 16 protests so far, their behaviour on the water is quite frankly disgraceful.

Best of luck to all teams and fair racing.

    Rusty

  9. Mauri Says:

    Italy first !!!!!
    Italians do it better !!!!!!!!!

  10. John Slattery Says:

Come on Ireland from all at AIB Cork

  11. Chris bruen Says:

With such a large no over the line, does this not reflect on the od to call a general recall.from my experience with harold cudmore, either the officer of the day recalls all or the raceshould be abandoned,to preserve an accurate result overall.
    Best wishes
    Chris of 505 racing.

  12. AB Says:

Allez les p’tits français, faites leur boire la tasse !!

    Pap

  13. Paulo Lopes Says:

Come on Portugal. Come on Ruben Luís. They can try to steal you points in the secretary but in the water Portugal is the best. Let’s wait the last day. For now, and for me Portugal is the champion.

  14. Sally Doe Says:

    What a shame

Such a golden opportunity for students from all Nations to enjoy each others company & a World Class competition. From the on-line results to the competitors & observers comments it is plainly clear that “fair Play & good judgement” have gone out of the window. Makes me think of the Eurovision Song Contest. If I were there, I’d find it very hard to attend prize-giving.

  15. chris bruen Says:

Sall ,you are “On the ball, “Those responsable have a lot to answer for.Shame on them.

  16. Nissan Subaru Says:

Come on Team Japan! Let those crazy Europeans fight amongst themselves and just win!

    Best wishes and flied lice,

    Nissy

  17. Ronnie Says:

This reminds me of the event held a few years back when the english won. They couldnt win the event on the water so they won it in the protest room. Very sad state of affairs.

  18. cascais Says:

onee thing i know of the portuguese is that they may have a hot blood but very honest people and specialy strong sailors.shame on your comments mr.russel coutts.força Portugal let’s WIN.

  19. bitoque Says:

strong wind will mean stong victorys on the water…

  20. Russell Coutts Says:

    Hello again,

First off, I would just like to congratulate Torben and his men on breaking the 24 hour record. Over 600miles is very impressive. It is also great to see the man staying in touch with Sywoc happenings during his race.

Now, Cascais, I have had somebody translate your message into actual English as opposed to the jibberish you wrote. I must also question your assertion that the Portuguese are “honest people”. In my vast experience of Portuguese people they are nothing but smelly European scum, who will steal and cheat at every available opportunity. And as for sailors, I think results speak for themselves, the Portuguese have never really had any noteworthy success in this field.

I hope that the remainder of the event will pass without incident of foul play. The Italians have established a relatively large margin, but this is nothing that the Irish cannot pull back. They are not called the fighting Irish for nothing.

I must go now and polish my Olympic Gold medal and my America’s Cup.

    Toodles!

    Rusty

  21. chris bruen Says:

Good on you Rusty,We Irish have the “fiting spirit” with fair play and Sportmanship.ITA looking good now, however May the Sport continue between these fine teams.

  22. bcbg Says:

i dont understand why such a vulgar and low level comments of r.c. are aceppted

its very suspect to tell that italians and irish are working together on protest.acusation of cartel…?

we hope to have nice and strong competition ,and as we know protests are things quite normal in competition specialy when level goes up

if you still don´t know portuguese people in the sailing world ,you can start triing to have the pleasure of personaly see, the young 23 years old portuguese skipper ,who participated since 11years old in 15 europe and world sailing championship

for is results its obviously necessary to have strong competitive and fightingt spirit which is a quality that everybody a every university shoud develope in their studentsand we hope to see in this championship(they are not 6 years old kids)

Rusty, your comments are inappropriate and reflect badly on the team that you support. Even if your racism is irony, your comments can understandably be perceived as offensive, rude and stupid.
